The virtual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards took place on Saturday, May 2, making the event the first remote awards showamid the coronavirus pandemic. The ceremony, which was given the name “Celebrate Together,” may not have had the quintessential orange carpet or traditional award presentations that fans are used to, but it was still certainly a night to remember with a star-studded guest list, exciting wins, and, of course, plenty of slime.

Hosted by Victoria Justice, the event featured plenty of celebs like Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, and BTS, and paid tribute to even more fan favorites, including Taylor Swift, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, and more. There was even a full-on Avengers reunion, along with an appearance from Kristen Bell in complete Princess Anna gear.

Ahead, check out some of the memorable moments from the 2020 Kids’ Choice Awards, along with the full list of winners.

Ariana Grande gave SpongeBob Squarepants a well-deserved shoutout.

After accepting the award for Favorite Female Artist, Ariana talked about how much the Nickelodeon network meant to her while growing up. “Nickelodeon always will hold such a tremendous place in my heart, not only because of Victorious and Sam & Catand the amazing years I spent working with them, but also just for SpongeBob, you know?” We do know, Ari, we do.

BTS took home a major award.

The K-pop group took home the award for Favorite Music Group, and recorded a special video message for ARMYs. “Thank you for voting for us,” they said in the clip. “Your love keeps us going…. We miss you ARMY, so so much, and hopefully see you soon.”

Dove Cameron won her first-ever orange blimp.

The Disney star claimed the Favorite Movie Actress award for her work in the Descendants franchise, and she accepted the coveted blimp clad in a cute tie-dye sweatshirt. “This is so special,” she said in a video message to fans. “Because this award is about us, and our relationship, and that makes it ten times more special.”

The Victorious tribute had us in our feelings.

Host Victoria Justice led fans down memory lane with a nostalgic montage of the iconic Nickelodeon series. Excuse me, I think I have something in my eye!

JoJo Siwa was slimed. And then again. And again. And again.

The YouTuber was featured in a video where she encountered Nickelodeon’s iconic lime-green slime at every turn in her house: on her pillow, in her toothpaste, even in her family’s swimming pool. Welp!

LeBron James was honored for his charity work.

The basketball star was awarded Nickelodeon’s 2020 Generation Change Award for his work with the LeBron James Family Foundation’s I PROMISE School, which aims to support the education of at-risk students. “This means so much,” James said in a video. “It’s not just about me, this is about you guys as well. I’m just so appreciative, and I just want to say that I hope everyone is staying safe throughout these difficult times.”

Millie Bobby Brown took time to thank essential workers during her acceptance speech.

After being awarded an orange blimp for winning Favorite Female TV Star, the Strange Things actor shouted out those fighting on the frontlines amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “During this difficult time, I’ve learned a lot of things about this world and about myself,” Millie said. “First of all, I have a deep respect for our healthcare workers at the forefront of all of this, who are risking their lives fighting for our parents, our grandparents, children. We love and appreciate you so much. I cherish and admire their bravery, work and drive more than anyone.”

She closed out her speech with a thank-you to fans, saying: “To be acknowledged at this time for bringing much needed entertainment and joy is very meaningful to me and I really don’t take this lightly. I’m so glad to have delighted your TV screens for the last four years. I can’t wait for you to see Stranger Things 4soon. Much love.”

The show must go on — with a few changes. Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards is the first awards show to be virtually produced, making former Victorious star Victoria Justice the first to host such a televised event.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Justice and the rest of the celebrities set to appear during May 2’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2020: Celebrate Together are obviously recording from their own homes. “I’m still trying to have fun with it,” the host told TV Insider of the “very DIY” show. (She’s gotten help from her sister and family.) “I have my own little set-up that I put together to make it festive and fun. I think it’s a really cool and unique opportunity. It’s obviously a really interesting and challenging time for a lot of people, and I’m excited about being able to talk to the kids about it.”

“The format is going to be different, but it’s still the Kids’ Choice Awards, so it’s going to be really fun,” she continued. “There’s going to be lot of special guests and it’s going to get a little slime-y.” However, she teased, “I can’t tell you who or what or when or where.” Will the host herself get slimed? “Who knows?”

Celebrities scheduled to appear include Dwayne Johnson, Ariana Grande, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Camila Cabello, Millie Bobby Brown, Ellen DeGeneres, BTS, Shawn Mendes, Lil Nas X, Dove Cameron, Tom Holland, David Dobrik, Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, SSSniperWolf, and more. The show will also include cast members of The Avengers: Endgame (Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, and Jeremy Renner), and a sneak peek at Nickelodeon’s upcoming live-action series The Astronauts.

Plus, blimp trophies will still be given out, and there will even be a musical performance: Asher Angel with “All Day.”

Justice likes that the show doesn’t take itself too seriously. “It’s all about the kids. It’s all about having fun. It’s bright and colorful and just goofy and crazy and fun.”

With everyone home, “it’s a great opportunity for families to watch it together,” she added. “It’s going to be a nice little dose of encouragement and happiness and joy.”

Nickelodeon is also raising awareness for No Kid Hungry, a national campaign to end childhood hunger in America, with a $1 million donation in support of those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. “I’m so excited that Nickelodeon is taking this opportunity to do some good in a big way,” Justice said. “It’s really incredible.”

So tune in May 2 for some slime. You never know when or where it will show up.
